Tottenham Set to Make £12m Crouch Bid

England international considering his options

Football - Portsmouth v Arsenal Barclays Premier League

The Rumour

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed he is interested in signing Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch.

The England international is expected to leave Fratton Park this summer, with Sunderland and Fulham both eager to secure his services; although Redknapp has now throw his hat in the ring.

“I like Peter. I’ve signed him several times and he’s a top player,” Redknapp told Sky Sports News. “He’s a player that we could be interested in, but we’ll have to wait and see.

“Portsmouth obviously want to sell him now, they’ve accepted offers for him, so if they want to sell him, we’d be interested.”

The Analysis

Peter Crouch was of course offloaded by Tottenham when he was 19 years old after he failed to make an impression at White Hart Lane, now nine years on and the England international appears to be a potential new Spurs signing.

Harry Redknapp is obviously a big fan having forked out £11m to bring him to Portsmouth from Liverpool and now it appears the former Pompey boss is considering reforming the little and large strike pairing with Defoe clearly working well alongside the giant forward.

There are a few clubs very much interested in Crouch and bids have been excepted but a move to north London appears to be the most promising offer on the table.

The Likelihood

Crouch to Tottenham: I think he will make the move.
