Pretty poor player set to leave the club!
Liverpool are in talks to offload Italian misfit Andrea Dossena to Napoli.
Rafa Benitez is keen to sell Dossena after a nightmare first season in England.
The Italy defender failed to live up to his £7million price tag, making just 12 league starts, although he did endear himself to Reds fans by scoring in the 4-1 drubbing of Manchester United at Old Trafford. Napoli have stepped in after Juventus ended their interest and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis said: “I’ve personally spoken with Rafa Benitez. The negotiation is ongoing.”
Dossena’s fee could be a sticking point as Napoli are hoping for a cut-price deal, while Benitez wants to recoup the £7m he paid Udinese a year ago. (Daily Mirror)
The earth would not storm rotating if Andrea Dossena was to leave the club so in many ways it would be better for all concerned if the whole thing was done and dusted before the speculation begins to anger and annoy all parties.
The Italian international was billed as one of the best, if not THE best, full backs in Serie A but when he arrived he looked like a fish out of water and he floundered big time. He was at times hopelessly out of position and seemingly unable to string a pass of more than five yards to the correct player.
However he will live long in my memory for the goal at Old Trafford but that isn’t enough to warrant keeping him any longer. Emiliano Insua is in my view the best prospect at left back, especially as Fabio Aurelio contrived to injure himself whilst playing football with his kids!
