Arsenal In Driving Seat to Sign £17m Huntelaar: Please Arsene Make It Happen!

The signing Gunners fans would be very happy with!

Arsenal are firm favourites to capture Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar after rivals Tottenham Hotspur effectively withdrew their interest in the £17million-rated Dutch international after signing Portsmouth’s Peter Crouch.

The 25-year-old rejected a move to German club Stuttgart last week, preferring a switch to the Premier League after the Gunners registered an interest.

‘At the moment I am more focused on getting everybody fit for the start of the season,’ the Frenchman told the London Evening Standard, having already signed Belgian centre-back Thomas Vermaelen and allowed Emmanuel Adebayor to leave.

‘We are looking at opportunities as well. There are still some pre-season games to see what we really need and when the time has come we will do something.

Well in some ways this makes perfect sense and I would love to see it happen but can’t seem to get my mind to believe it will. Rarely does Arsene Wenger buy the players you expect him to, and usually he gets it right so perhaps I should stop considering players I feel would greatly improve things at the Emirates and let the boss get on with it, but that would be no fun!

Eduardo is back from another short injury lay off and he is pure quality and if he can stay away from injury he is a 20 goal a season striker and no mistake but the problem is, and I don’t want to be pessimistic, that a great majority of players who come back from severe injuries can struggle to do without breaking down again and again. With that in mind the signing of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar would in my mind be a good one.

With Adebayor, Toure and seemingly Eboue all about to leave the club we should have the spare change to make a decent offer so why not make it? Please Arsene!
