I am not his #1 fan that’s for sure!

Corinthians have confirmed their interest in Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva.

In an interview with Arena SporTV, Corinthians president Andres Sanches announced they were keen to bring Lucas back to Brazil.

I have to say I am not the biggest fan of young Brazilian Lucas, and whilst he may have improved a tad during last term, he still doesn’t possess the ability in my mind to represent the club. Sure there will be those who think that he needs more time but at 22 shouldn’t he already be showing a hint of his potential by now?

After 40 starts for the club, yes I was surprised by that stat as well, I can recall perhaps one or two decent games but that’s not really a ratio anyone should be happy with. Take Ryan Babel in comparison, another 22 year old who is still to really prove himself at the club but I know which of the two I strongly believe will become a very good player in the not to distant future.

When we, as Liverpool fans, talk about players the club can afford to get rid of, especially when it comes to trying to raise funds for new additions. The same names come up and I often wonder why the hell Lucas is not considered as eminently dispensable.
