Could the Belgian giant opt for move to Spanish giants rather than take a huge pay increase?
Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany is interesting Barcelona.
Barca coach Pep Guardiola wants a new defensive signing made before the summer market shuts and Sport says Kompany is on his shortlist.
The Belgium international’s versatility is attractive to Guardiola, who would like to sign a defender capable of also filling in a defensive midfield role when required. (tribalfootball.com)
It seems that Mark Hughes’ side may be about to get a taste of their own medicine. After seemingly acting like the playground bullies by trying to force Everton’s hand over Joleon Lescott now it appears that Belgian Vincent Kompany is interesting Barcelona greatly.
The giant 23 year old had a marvelous season at Eastlands last term and I can see why he would interest Pepe Guardiola as he is able to do a solid job both as defensive midfielder and indeed at centre back, in much the same way as Yaya Toure has managed at the Nou Camp in recent years.
If this speculation has some basis in reality Man City could struggle to keep the former Hamburg and Anderlecht man at the club and ironically he may choose to turn down any huge financial offer to stay in favour of fulfilling his ambitions on a playing level with the Champions League holders, which would in many ways reverse the policy of many money mad additions to the club’s squad list.
