Not bad, not bad at all!
Real Madrid’s tortuous pursuit of Xabi Alonso reached a conclusion last night when the Liverpool midfield player joined the Spanish club in a deal that could ultimately be worth £35 million.
Alonso, 27, has agreed a four-year contract worth £80,000 a week after tax and will be formally announced as a Real player today, subject to the successful completion of a medical.
Liverpool will receive an initial £30 million, with a further £5 million payable in add-ons depending on the player and club’s success. (Times Online)
So all in all if this source is accurate then both Liverpool and Xabi have done pretty well out of the whole Real Madrid deal, certainly better than if Rafa has sold the Spanish international to Juventus last summer, a transfer that fell through at the last minute.
OK, so let’s get spending, only a few weeks to go until the transfer window slams shut!
