Stamford Bridge supremo flies out to Munich!

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH will fly to Germany to make a £40million raid for winger Franck Ribery.
The billionaire Chelsea owner called Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness last weekend.

He made clear his intention to recruit the French star and is willing to pay the most ever by a British club to get him.

A senior Bayern source said: “Uli was taken by surprise by the phone call but was very honest and courteous with Mr Abramovich.

“We are still resolved to keep Ribery but Hoeness agreed to meet with Abramovich in Germany to discuss any offer.”

As SunSport revealed last month, Manchester United and Chelsea will both launch bids for Ribery this summer.

United have yet to make an offer and Abramovich has now stolen a march on them. (The Sun)

Well as someone once said “You have to be in it, to win it” and the fact that Roman Abramovich has an audience with the Bayern top brass gives an indication that the German club would consider his offer and that must give Chelsea fans cause for some hope.

Franck Ribery is a wanted man and the likes of Real Madrid and Man United have shown signs of real interest but do Chelsea need the French international? Of course the former Marseille man is one of the most talented wingers on the planet but Carlo Ancelotti has a number of options on both flanks with Florent Malouda and Yuri Zhirkov as options on the left and Joe Cole able to play both sides and the likes of Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou also adept at playing out wide.

However the Bayern man would be such a catch that the west London side can of course reshape their offensive options around him but will the Bundesliga giants accept an offer of
£40m?
