Speculation is rife with this one!
“David Bentley has gone to Liverpool on a one-year loan, heard from an inside source…” (BBC Sport)
Meanwhile, Rafael Benitez may have nothing in the coffers, but Rory Smith has now sent Liverpool fans into afternoon overdrive with this one: “Rumours abounding among agents that Liverpool could yet pull something out of the bag with a loan swoop – it’s deadline day, everything’s a swoop – for David Bentley, who won’t, of course, be moving to Manchester City. Seems unlikely, but Rafa Benitez has looked at him before. (Daily Telegraph)
I have also seen this rumour on some other sites but can it possible be true? David Bentley is not going to Man City, that much we do know, but could Rafa be interested in bringing in the attacking wide midfielder to the club?
I guess a loan deal won’t harm us too much if indeed he continues to be the vastly overrated footballer that Tottenham spent far too much money on. I guess it always helps to have decent cover in all areas and in that manner picking up the former England man on a temporary basis wouldn’t be the end of the world and would work well given we have no cash!
