Redknapp brings in injury cover specialist!
We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Jimmy Walker.
The 36-year-old joins us as goalkeeping cover having left West Ham at the end of last season. He spent five seasons at Upton Park and was part of the team that won promotion to the Premier League in 2005 via the Championship Play-Off Final. Jimmy also spent three months on loan at Colchester United last season from November making 16 appearances.
Jimmy began his career at Notts County before joining Walsall in August 1993 and went on to make 476 appearances during eleven years at the Bescot Stadium. (Official Tottenham Site)
Jimmy has had an interesting life as a keeper. After being rejected by Notts County after two years trying to break into the first team, he went to Walsall where he became something of a cult hero during his decade plus at the Bescot, as it was then. He barely missed a game and amassed over 470 appearances for the club before getting the call as his contract ended that propelled him into the big time.
He helped the Hammers to promotion but injury scuppered his career at Upton Park where he found himself behind Roy Carroll and Robert Green and during his five years at the club he managed just 13 league games and went from April 2006 until November 2008 without any senior matches.
Now at Tottenham he will obviously find it very hard to get a place in the starting line up, but I guess having already been there, and done that, he is more than happy to sit and wait for his chance.
