Former legend set to make move back to north London?
Vieira is set to join Arsenal on an 18-month deal in January. The French midfielder wants to leave Internazionale to salvage his World Cup hopes, and Arsenal haven’t had a proper defensive midfielder since, well, Patrick Vieira left the club. The Gunners wanted Vieira in August. (Eurosport)
This is of course not the first time a claim of this nature has been made but it is at least true that Vieira is not best pleased at the lack of first team starts he is currently getting at the San Siro. Arsene Wenger would probably be keen on bringing back our former captain and the French midfielder could do wonders by passing on some tricks of the trade to those coming through the ranks and players such as Alex Song and Denilson could benefit from the presence of the great man.
By all accounts Inter would require a nominal payment before considering letting Paddy leave, and a fee of around £2m has been mentioned by some, however such a fee would surely be more than worth it and give us more strength in depth and add a great deal of experience to the squad.
