A young talent who could well fit in nicely at the Emirates.
Many reports suggest that Manchester City‘s talented defender Micah Richards is ready to quit the club in order to get his fledgling career back on track and it seems that Mark Hughes’ loss could be Arsenal‘s gain.
Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the 21 year old England international who for some unknown reason can’t manage to secure a steady run in the first team and he has apparently had a running spat with the boss and coaching staff but the £15m rated Birmingham lad is a top notch talent who can only get better.
After bursting on the scene under Sven Goran Ericsson Micah found himself a regular in the England set up but now finds himself back in the Under 21 set-up as Richards has not been quite so impressive this term and if he is indeed available, and it appears that Hughes is looking to bring in right back Philipp Lahm, then I believe Wenger would be wise to consider making a move for the adaptable defender.
Now a veteran of over 100 Premier League appearances Micah already has the experience and is in my view good enough to ply his trade at the Emirates and could be seen as a replacement for veteran William Gallas at the centre of defence alongside Thomas Vermaelen. He’s a determined customer who would surely jump at a move to north London and given that we sold Toure and Adebayor to Man City, it would appear eminently possible they would consider selling us Richards, for the right price.
Some might baulk at the £15m price tag but at his age and in the current level of transfer spending, remember Lescott cost near on £25m, I think its a reasonable valuation.
