Wenger keeps an eye on key Hammers star.
Behrami has been a big hit at Upton Park since his £5m move from Lazio last year.
The versatile star, 24, has been linked with a return to Serie A, with Juventus and Roma interested, and now
Arsene Wenger has joined the race to snare the Switzerland international.
The Gunners chief is keeping tabs on Behrami just in case first-choice right-back Bacary Sagna leaves for Real Madrid.
But Behrami’s agent insists the clubs lining up to take the versatile Hammer must wait until the end of the season.
Alessandro Beltrami said: “It is possible for him to move after the World Cup next year but not before then.
“He doesn’t want anything to affect his place in the Switzerland squad.”
Meanwhile, Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola insists he is the “warrior” who can save their season from disaster.
The Italian chief admits confidence at Upton Park is low after a horror run of seven league games without a win.
The Hammers could be bottom of the table by the time they play Arsenal tomorrow but Zola insists he will lead the troubled club away from danger.
He said: “It’s very difficult because I care about the players and club.
“It hurts me. But I am a warrior – I don’t look like it but I am one. “I am someone who never gives up and my determination to succeed is stronger than anything.
“The job keeps me awake at night. You are always trying to find answers.
“But I want the players to look for the solutions, rather than worry.” (Daily Star)
Well this speculation is well timed with both sides going head to head in the London derby tomorrow (Sunday) but this isn’t the first time that Arsene Wenger has been linked with West Ham’s Swiss international with the Gunners boss strongly linked with a move for the adaptable midfielder/full back when he was at Lazio.
The 24 year old has suffered a little of late with niggling injuries but when he has played for the Hammers he has been an effective and determined asset to the club and they will not want to lose him but should his head be turned by a move to the Emirates if indeed the interest from Arsenal manifests itself into an actual bid.
I don’t personally see Wenger allowing Bacary Sagna to so easily leave the club but if he did then a move for Behrami would be a solid and intelligent one.
