Burnley boss lined up to take Reebok job.
Sky Sports News understands Bolton are hoping to appoint Owen Coyle as their new manager in the next 24 hours.
The Burnley boss has emerged as the leading candidate for the post at the Reebok Stadium following Gary Megson’s departure last week.
Megson was never able to win over the Trotters faithful and his two-year stint at the helm came to an end shortly after the 2-2 home draw with Hull City in late December.
Coyle’s name was immediately mentioned as a possible successor and it appears he is now on the brink of leaving Turf Moor for a new challenge.
The Scot insisted before the weekend that he was purely focused on his job with the Clarets, but missed a post-match press conference following his side’s FA Cup victory over MK Dons on Saturday. (Sky Sports)
The day that Gary Megson was axed by Bolton, and it was a long time coming, Owen Coyle must have been itching to take over the reins at the club he represented with such success as a player for two years and it appears the Scot is set to make the move from Burnley to the Reebok but one has to wonder if such a move is a step forward.
Given the success Coyle has had at Turf Moor and that Burnley are in fact ahead of Bolton in the Premier League, is such a move a wise one? Either way the Trotters fans will surely be pleased with such an appointment and will no doubt give the Falkirk and St Johnstone boss all their support.
