Rafa looks to snap up out of contract striker.
Rafael Benítez and Liverpool rival Arsenal for Marouane Chamakh
Liverpool to offer pre-contract agreement

Liverpool are prepared to rival Arsenal for the signature of the Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh. Rafael Benítez will attempt to capitalise on uncertainty surrounding the Moroccan’s future with an offer of a pre-contract agreement at Anfield.
The 25-year-old has been linked with Arsenal since last summer although Arsène Wenger, who is awaiting news on Nicklas Bendtner’s groin injury before deciding whether to sign another forward, is yet to make a firm offer for the Moroccan.
That has alerted several clubs. Chamakh is out of contract with Bordeaux at the end of the season and free to sign a pre-contract deal with a foreign club this month. Liverpool are understood to be the latest Premier League side to register an interest but any move would not take place until the summer. (Guardian)
It seems Marouane Chamakh appears to be keen on a move to the Premier League and is first seeing out his season at Bordeaux where he is looking to lead the Ligue 1 side to successive titles whilst also mounting a Champions League challenge.
The Moroccan international was close to joining Arsenal last summer but a fee could not be agreed and the north London club failed to convince Laurent Blanc to take the cash for a player who was set to run out his contract. Now Chamakh is set to run out his deal and then cash in on a move and now it seems Liverpool are the best offer on the table and some reports suggest that the 25 year old is very keen on a potential Anfield move.
Speedy, creative and intelligent Chamakh could form a perfect partnership alongside Fernando Torres and Rafa Benitez will be keen to secure the deal given the financial constraints he is under at Liverpool and if the deal can be sealed it would represent a great bit of business.
