Arsenal fought past FC Porto excellently at the Emirates to book their place in the Champions League Quarter Finals. Trailing from the first leg and without mercurial Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas many believed Arsene Wenger’s side may struggle to progress but Arsenal put in a wonderful performance to beat their Portuguese opponents.
Nicolas Bentner was the hero of the hour as he scored twice before the break. The first goal was created by Samir Nasri who’s ball evaded Andrei Arshavin but found its way to the Big Dane was there to put away an easy chance.
Bendtner added his second on 25 minutes after some great work from Andrei Arshavin who beats three Porto men before putting a brilliant cross crossing for the Arsenal striker who makes no mistake. Arsenal upped their game further in the second half to end any hopes Porto had of a comeback.
Samir Nasri and Emmanuel Eboue scored Arsenal’s third and fourth respectively within the space of a couple of minutes to hand Arsenal a excellent win at the Emirates. Nicolas Bendtner added a fifth in injury time to complete his hat-trick.
