Switzerland vs Uruguay

It would be all to easy to belittle Luis Suarez’s goalscoring efforts in the Dutch Eredivisie and similar jibes were made of the likes of Ronaldo, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and the great Romario before they stepped up to the plate in other ‘bigger’ European leagues.

The 23 year old Ajax man scores goals for fun but what is most remarkable is the ability the Uruguayan has to put the ball in the back of the net in a number of different ways. From the simple tap in to a long range effort to a standard header from a set piece. Along with Diego Forlan the hopes of a nation rest and with veteran Sebastián Abreu also on hand to lead the attacks the South American side may well cause an upset or two.

With 39 goals for his Amsterdam employers this season there will be fewer more in form strikers at the World Cup this summer and Uruguay may have enough in them to make it out of a fairly average group and if you fancy a flutter perhaps its worth an each way bet on Suarez to get the golden boot?

Anyway, here’s some footage of the top notch striker in action.
