Arsene Wenger really would do well to bring this teenager to the Emirates.
Lille’s teenage sensation Eden Hazard, having taken Ligue 1 and the Europa League by storm this season, is attracting serious attention throughout Europe.
A host of clubs from Spain and Italy have been paying close attention to the 19-year-old who can also count Liverpool and Arsenal amongst his growing band of admirers.
The Belgian starlet’s reputation has rocketed this season, but Arsene Wenger and Rafa Benitez might have to play a waiting game, as Hazard maintains his immediate future is in France.
“I am flattered by the reports, but I have a contract with Lille until 2014 and the club want to keep me,” the talented playmaker told SkySports.
“Maybe one day I will play in the Premier League, or the Spanish league, or some other club, but it will depend on Lille.” (Give Me Football – Official PFA Website)
Arsene Wenger is linked with an Emirates move for just about every half decent teenage footballer across Europe but Eden Hazard really is one starlet the Arsenal boss should make a move for. The 19 year old Lille man showed just what he is capable of when he took apart Liverpool when Lille took on the Premier League side in their Europa League 1st leg clash earlier this month.
The intelligent attacking midfielder has great touch and shows maturity beyond his age and clearly has the potential to be a big star. French minnows Lille will not be able to keep hold of their prized asset for much longer and with that in mind they are reportedly hiking up their valuation to the £18 -20m mark and whilst many may baulk at the size of the fee it could well prove to be a priceless foray into the transfer market and is one that the north London side should really consider making.
Arsene Wenger doesn’t splash Gunners cash on a whim but the signs are that this summer he will look to bring in some big names to the Emirates. Whilst its true that Arsenal have a great many youthful talents coming through Eden Hazard really does appear to be the cream of the crop and would be well worth forking out serious cash for.
Hazard can play across a number of positions but probably best plies his trade behind the striker and could offer Arsenal an alternative attacking option and could well move seamlessly into Premier League life next season such is his marked progression in the game.
