Yoann Gourcuff has had many false dawns in his up and down career but now settled at French champions Bordeaux the 23 year old appears to be going some way to finally fulfilling his massive potential. The talented midfielder was the talk of the town after bursting onto the scene at Rennes and a move to AC Milan seemed to be the start of a blossoming career but things did not pan out well for the French international at the San Siro.

Injuries blighted his time in Serie A and it didn’t help that Carlo Ancelotti didn’t actually rate him. A loan move back to France couldn’t have gone any better as Gourcuff helped Laurent Blanc’s side to a French League and Cup double and his performances earned him a permanent move to Bordeaux.

This term has continued in the same vein and he has helped his club in an impressive Champions League campaign and Yoann looks to be in the form of his life and could well make an impact in South Africa this summer.
