News that is sure to bring a tear to Emirates fans eyes!
AC Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini would rather remain at the San Siro than return to England amid reports the Rossoneri are set to offer the France international a new deal.
Flamini was linked with a move to Manchester City in January and interest is expected to increase when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.
The former Arsenal midfielder has been a bit-part player for most of the season but has started three of Milan’s last four matches and is keen to extend his stay.
“I’m following the interest towards me of big English clubs. But my priority is Milan,” Flamini said in L’Equipe.
“I’m at a legendary club, one of the greatest in the world. I feel very good there, I’m counting on imposing myself, at this moment I’m in full possession of my abilities.” (Independent)
I am sure that just about every Arsenal fan on planet earth is very glad indeed that Mathieu Flamini’s move to Serie A has backfired. The former Emirates man has barely had a look in at AC Milan since he arrived and he is only now getting a game or two down to injuries that have left Leonardo with little choice but than to pick the Frenchman.
The lack of first team action has also hampered Flamini’s World Cup ambitions and it could well be that the tough tackling midfielder finds himself having to watch the showpiece tournament from his armchair, which is of course music to Gunners fans ears.
Obviously there is nothing wrong with a player wanting to leave a club, even one like Arsenal, but to do so in the manner in which Flamini did was unforgivable. Good luck getting your career back on track Matty!
