Owen Coyle asks Arsene Wenger very nicely if he can keep Emirates teen starlet for a little while longer.
Owen Coyle will be speaking to Arsene Wenger regarding the possibility of keeping Jack Wilshere at Bolton Wanderers next season.
Wilshere, 18, joined Bolton on loan in the January transfer window and has impressed for the Trotters, making seven league starts and scoring his first Premier League goal in a 2-1 win at West Ham.
The midfielder is the youngest player to represent Arsenal in the league and remains a part of Wenger’s long-term plans at Emirates Stadium, but Coyle is hoping Wilshere will continue his education at Bolton next season.
“That’s a conversation for the summer, but I felt he was terrific and showed a mature head on young shoulders,” Coyle told the Daily Star after a 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.
“That’s great for Arsenal, Bolton at the moment, and English football in the future. If Arsene Wenger wants to give him to me for another year, I’d be delighted to take him.” (ESPN)
You can’t blame Owen Coyle for trying but I don’t see Arsene Wenger loaning out Jack Wilshere to Bolton for another season simply because the Emirates boss will have seen enough from the teenager to know that he could well be an integral part of the Gunners campaign next term.
The talented midfielder has shown himself to be more than able to cut it in the Premier League even at his tender age and his move to the Reebok has been a good one to help make him a move rounded player. At Bolton he has been able to adjust himself to an entirely different style of play and may well have learned how be a little more aggressive and determined whilst helping Wanderers in their relegation fight.
Wilshere is sure to be an England and Arsenal star of the future and his experience at the Trotters will have been invaluable and you can understand why Coyle would want to persuade Wenger to give him Wilshere for another season but he will be no doubt be asking knowing that such a move would be unlikely.
