Could Arsene Wenger be closing in on new Emirates striker signing?
Speculation about an Emirates move for Italian Under 21 international striker Mario Balotelli grows ever stronger after the players agent stated that a move to another interested party, AC Milan, would not happen.
This has led many to believe that the club with the most chance of nabbing the Inter Milan youngster is Arsenal. The troubled front man has had numerous fallings out with officials and fellow players at the San Siro and recent omissions from important matches has only served to strengthen rumours of a move to the Premier League.
This seasons arrival of Samuel Eto’o has made “Super Mario” an even less frequent starter and Jose Mourinho continues to only see the talented speed merchant as a bit part player in the club’s push for Serie A and Champions League honours.
Couple these facts with the apparent need for the Gunners to find new attacking options this summer. Arsene Wenger made a renewed attempt to bring more firepower in January but failed in a number of late bids to help the club cope with an injury crisis that almost threatened to derail and significant push for silverware.
Mario Balotelli joins the likes of Edin Dzeko, Marouane Chamakh and Carlton Cole, to name just three, on the club’s summer wishlist. The 19 year old is valued in the 15m bracket and has already shown his potential when selected in Italy’s top tier. He is also said to be on the verge of a full international call up but Mario will know that any hope of breaking into the national set up will depend on him getting a regular run out, something he is struggling to do under Jose Mourinho.
