Emirates boss set for bid that is surely doomed to failure.
Arsenal are set for an offer from Juventus that will surely be given short shrift by Emirates boss Arsene Wenger. Italian reports suggest that the Turin outfit are willing to entertain the sale of Brazilian Felipe Melo, a long term Gunners target, on the proviso that any such deal would see the north London side offer Robin Van Persie in return.
Wenger has long been linked with a move for battling defensive midfielder Felipe Melo and his admiration for the former Fiorentina man is well known but it seems highly unlikely that the Arsenal boss will ever consider losing talismanic front man Van Persie in a swap deal.
The Gunners front man has once again struggle with injury problems this term but still remains the club top striking option and is a cult hero at the club. Juventus have shown interest in the former Feyenoord man in the past and have also reportedly considered moves for fellow Arsenal men Emmanuel Eboue and Nicklas Bendtner but are not likely to get anywhere with moves to sign Van Persie.
Arsene may well attempt to make a move for Melo in a straight cash deal as he may see the tigerish midfielder as the perfect foil for skipper Cesc Fabregas in the heart of the Emirates midfield. Even though the 26 year old only arrived at Juventus last summer he has had a number of problems at the struggling Serie A side and appears keen to bring his time in Turin to an abrupt end.
