LIVERPOOL face being hit with a £9million bid from CSKA Moscow for Yossi Benayoun.

The Russians plan to lure the Israeli midfielder away from Anfield with a bumper pay deal.

Benayoun, 29, spent last week discussing his future with agent Ronen Katsav, despite having three years left on his contract.

But he insisted: “It’s flattering other clubs want me but what is important is where I am now.

“I am enjoying myself and it’s good for me here. In a few more weeks, it will be the right time to talk about certain things.” (News of the World)

Yossi is a class act. The Liverpool man is appreciated by just about everyone at Anfield, but Rafa is still not convinced, so if that is the case Benitez will surely consider any deal on offer for the Israeli. We don’t have much money to play with this summer and if we want to bring in new signings then we need to sell.

Albert Riera will probably leave and one or two others may also head for the exit but the money accrued from these sales will not be astronomical and that will make the gaffer think twice if an offer is forthcoming from CSKA Moscow.

You have to feel for Benayoun. When he does get a game he makes things happen. He loves the club but thus far he has started exactly half the Premier League matches on offer and that must surely have an impact on the former West Ham man’s ambitions. If you were the 29 year old, would you hold on and hope that Rafa changed his mind about whether he felt you are a first team regular.

Yossi is at a time in his career when he needs to be playing regularly so it will be interesting to see what happens in the short term. Hope he stays.
