Stamford Bridge bench warmer could be on his way to White Hart Lane.
Harry Redknapp will be a concerted effort this summer to snap up Chelsea contract rebel Joe Cole. Having seen his first team opportunities at Stamford Bridge vanish the England international feels he has no choice but to leave the west London club and his former Hammers boss is ready and waiting to pounce for the 28 year old the moment his current deal comes to an end.
White Hart Lane boss Redknapp has been looking for new additions to his side as they look to build on what has thus far been a terrific season and even if his north London side falls short in the Champions League race they will still have done amazingly well to finish where they have given just how poor a state they were in when the former Pompey boss joined the club.
Joe Cole was once again on the bench as Chelsea beat Bolton on Tuesday evening and try as he might the attacking midfielder doesn’t appear to have much of a future at the club under Carlo Ancelotti. Having suffered from injury worries for the best part of a year Cole would have hoped that on his return he would be considered a first team regular but that has not proved to be the case and many clubs are beating a path to his door.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has also reportedly expressed his interest in the player and there could be one hell of a tussle for his signature this summer and Chelsea’s loss could well be one club’s gain.
Redknapp will be hoping that his close relationship with his former player will give him the edge in the race to sign an England man keen for regular first team football.
