Harry eyes up Eastlands bench warmer.
Harry Redknapp is keen on bringing Manchester City bench warmer Roque Santa Cruz to White Hart Lane this summer. The Tottenham boss looks set to allow Robbie Keane to leave for pastures new and with in form Russian Roman Pavlyuchenko apparently looking for a move away from the north London club, Spurs are looking for another attacking option.
When Santa Cruz arrived at Eastlands it looked like an intelligent move for the Paraguayan looking to take a step upwards from strugglers Blackburn Rovers but within a couple of weeks he was joined by new signings Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez and all of a sudden it was beginning to look mighty crowded and many could have predicted what would happen next.
The 28 year old former Bayern Munich man has watched on from the sidelines as Tevez and Adebayor roared into action and when Roberto Mancini took over from Mark Hughes things got no better for Santa Cruz. Thus far he has managed just five Premier League starts and its a fair bet that if offered the chance of a move he would take it with both hands.
There is no doubting Roque’s talents and having already proven his ability to shine in the English top tier a move for the bit part player would be no gamble and perhaps Mancini would accept an offer lower than the £17.5m paid to sign him last summer.
