Reports emanating from Italy suggest that Sir Alex Ferguson could be keen on completing a swap deal to bring AC Milan’s misfiring striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar to Old Trafford. The Italian giants are said to be keen on Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov but are struggling with financial problems that have caused Leonardo to rethink his transfer policy so could use the Dutch international to offer for the Bulgarian.

Former Real Madrid man Huntelaar has struggled for form at the San Siro and has managed just nine Premier League starts this season and would certainly be tempted by such a move and given that Berbatov has similarly struggled to prove himself at Old Trafford perhaps a swap deal would suit all parties.

Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be an admirer of the 26 year old and had supposedly attempted to snap up the former Ajax man who instead opted for a move to the Bernabeu, a move that also stifled Huntelaar’s career progression.
