Does Rafa have any chance of bringing Argentine international to Anfield?
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez could be set for a sensational departure this summer, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The newspaper claims that the Argentinian ace will look for a summer move if City fail to finish fourth and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
The 26-year-old has hit 28 goals this season and has become a fan favourite at Eastlands.
But the report insists that Tevez has become increasingly disillusioned with manager Roberto Mancini and his adviser Kia Joorabchian has contacted some of Europe’s leading clubs as a contingency if City miss out on the top four.
The Mail on Sunday adds that Real Madrid and Inter Milan are interested in Tevez but face stiff competition from Liverpool.
City currently lie sixth, a point behind Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa in the race for fourth place, and face Villa at Eastlands next weekend before taking on Spurs and West Ham United in their final two games of the season. (Goal.com)
First let me make it perfectly clear that this speculation didn’t begin here. Its from the Mail on Sunday and then expanded on by Goal.com. Lets face it the idea of Carlos Tevez at Anfield may be a tall order indeed, but I would welcome him if indeed there is any truth in this story at all.
Lets look at the meat of this story. If Tevez wants to leave Man City because he is unhappy they may in all likelihood miss out on a Champions League spot, then its worth noting that we too are likely to miss out so not sure how that part of the piece makes sense.
The idea that the Argentine is unhappy with Roberto Mancini carries more weight as a few Man City players have apparently shown their unhappiness with the way the Italian is running things at Eastlands but then again the rumour on the grapevine is that the former Inter Milan boss may be leaving in the summer anyway.
But if Rafa had some cash to splash, if any prospective new owners wanted to hand him a handy cash injection then by all means a move for the former West Ham and Man United man would be a worthy one. He has shown since leaving Old Trafford just what he is capable of and imagine what an amazing combination he could form with El Nino!
