Arsene Wenger is set to make a summer move for Palermo centre back Simon Kjaer. The Arsenal boss is looking for long term solutions to his aging back line and sees the Danish international as an ideal purchase and believes that the Serie A side may be ready to cash in on the youngster.

The towering 21 year old burst onto the scene at the Sicilian side last term after making a big move from Danish minnows Midtjylland and has furthered interest in his services by putting in another solid display this term helping Palermo to within touching distance of a Champions League spot.

Arsenal are still locked in contract talks with William Gallas who is looking for a two year deal and the likes of Sol Campbell and Mikel Silvestre may be heading for the Emirates exit which could leave Wenger looking for a partner for Thomas Vermaelen, who has excelled since his summer move from Ajax.
