HARRY REDKNAPP will be given a £40m transfer kitty for Spurs’ assault on the Champions League – with Michael Carrick topping his wanted list.

The Tottenham manager is aiming to boost his squad so they are up to scratch in the European Cup.

And at the same time the Spurs board plan to offer new deals to Redknapp and star men Ledley King and Gareth Bale.

Tottenham’s top transfer targets will include the former White Hart Lane midfielder Michael Carrick (left), who is
dropping down the pecking order at Manchester United.

Redknapp will also ask Roberto Mancini if he would be prepared to sell him Craig Bellamy, who will be gutted at
missing out on Champions League football. Other names on Redknapp’s shopping list include Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko, with the Bosnian hitman rated at £15m. The 24-year-old has scored 22 goals in the
Bundesliga this season. (Daily Star)

One would have thought that Harry Redknapp wouldn’t have to do too much fiddling in the transfer market this summer but everyone knows how much the White Hart Lane boss likes to pick up a bargain or two.

Of the three named in this source Michael Carrick probably fits the needs of the north London side more so than Craig Bellamy and Edin Dzeko. Redknapp’s side had no problem putting the ball in the back of the net but the club could well do with more central midfield options.

The Manchester United midfielder has found himself frozen out of the first team and could well be interested in a return to Spurs but Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn’t allow such a move to occur without ample reward, hence stories speculating that the former West Ham man could be part of a swap deal to bring the likes of Luka Modric to Old Trafford.

Craig Bellamy could be useful in terms of his ability to play out wide as well as up front but Manchester City are unlikely to sell to a direct rival and Edin Dzeko seems likely to opt for a move to AC Milan.

Who do Spurs fans think the club should buy this summer, if anyone?
