Emirates boss lines up move for Argentine international.
Arsenal are considering making a move for Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago. Arsene Wenger sees the Argentine international as a potential solution to this lack of experienced defensive midfielders. The 24 year old Bernabeu man has struggled to pin down a place in Manuel Pellegrini’s first team plans and could well be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
With the La Liga giants reportedly looking to trim their wage bill and reduce their ever expanding squad they could well be keen on cashing in on the former Boca Junior who is valued in the region of £8-10m.
Having won two domestic titles with Real Madrid Gago has found his first team chances limited this term and has managed just 14 starts in all competitions this season and has been linked with a move to Manchester City and several Italian clubs.
Gunners boss Wenger is keen to bring in top notch experienced players to the Emirates this summer to help bring an end to a five season long silverware drought and a move for Gago could well please the club’s fanbase who would probably be more pleased with a move for an established international over yet more youthful additions.
