Old Trafford boss is looking to use Berbatov as a make weight in deal to seal AC Milan man.
Manchester United are hoping to complete a Serie A swap this summer as they look to bring in AC Milan’s misfiring Dutchman Klaas Jan Huntelaar in part exchange for Dimitar Berbatov. Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly run out of patience with his Bulgarian striker and wants to use the former Tottenham man to land the San Siro man.
Having struggled to cement a first team spot at Real Madrid, Huntelaar was offloaded to the Serie A giants but has seen lightning strike twice as he has failed to displace either Alexandre Pato and in form Italian Marco Borriello and is once again trying to resurrect his faltering career.
Ferguson is looking for alternative attacking options and is a big admirer of the former Ajax man and believes that he can play the 26 year old alongside Wayne Rooney. The Manchester United boss may look to use his number nin as a bargaining chip in any such deal.
The £18m rated AC man would surely jump at the chance of a Premier League move but such is the falling value of Berbatov that any bid for Huntelaar may well also involve a cash plus player investment to seal the deal.
