Veteran Italian ready to help mount another World Cup assault.
32 year old Italian international Gianluigi Buffon is rightly considered one of the best keepers of his generation and his vast experience at club and national level have made him one of the most unbeatable goalies in Europe today. Marcello Lippi will be counting on the Juventus man to provide a stern last line of defence as he did when Italy triumphed in the 2006 World Cup when the only goals he conceded in seven games were an own goal and a Zinedine Zidane penalty in the final.
The veteran hasn’t had a great season in Turin this term where upheaval in the boardroom and dressing room have greatly effected the club and seen them finish the season in seventh place. A great many big clubs are considering a move for the former Lazio man in the summer and if he puts in another excellent stint for his country expect his value to increase substantially.
