Sir Alex Ferguson wants to bring Italian international to Old Trafford.
Manchester United are looking to improve their defensive options by making a move for highly rated Juventus centre back Giorgio Chiellini. Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on bringing in further defensive options for his Old Trafford side and has earmarked the Italian international as a potential target this summer.
The 25 year old has become a crucial part of Italy’s national team set up and has been linked with a move away from the Turin club for a few years now but given the awful season Juventus have had there could be a very real chance that the former Fiorentina man could be ready for a new challenge.
Ferguson will have noted that Rio Ferdinand’s injury concerns and distinctly average form could leave an open spot in the Man United first team picture. Though Sir Alex has fast improving Jonny Evans and youngster Chris Smalling to look to as long term prospects he could well be interested in bringing in experienced talented solid partners for Nemanja Vidic and a move for Chiellini would be a very wise one.
The £22m rated defender is a very able performer and as well as being calm and assured at the back he has the ability to pitch in with his fair share of goals from set pieces and now could be the right time to make a move for the Pisa born man, especially given that his club has still not appointed a full time manager and has only just crept into a Europa League spot for next term.
