Emirates boss targets Lyon forward.
Arsenal are reportedly considering a move to sign Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis this summer. Arsene Wenger is ready to make a move for the former Saint Etienne man as he looks to improve the Emirates attacking options.
The 24 year old French international only arrived at the Stade Gerland last summer and has had a good first season since his £11m move, helping Lyon to a runners up spot in Ligue 1 and an impressive Champions League run that ended in a Semi Final defeat against Bayern Munich.
Even though the Gunners are set to seal a deal to bring Moroccan Marouane Chamakh to the club, Wenger is still linked with a move for the powerful forward who only just missed out on a place in Raymond Domenech’s World Cup squad.
Gomis has been likened to Emmanuel Adebayor due to his direct physical style and would no doubt welcome interest from the north London club but Lyon would hold out on selling unless they received a sizable bid for the player rated at around £16m. Wenger is known to be an admirer and was reportedly close to sealing a deal for the forward back in his Saint Etienne days.
