Englands coach Capello instructs his team during their international friendly soccer match against Japan in Graz

England coach Fabio Capello will tell his players on Tuesday if they have made his final 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup in South Africa.
The Italian says he has decided on the seven players from his provisional 30-man squad who will be dropped.
He is due to contact them individually before the final squad is announced on the Football Association website.
The inclusion of midfielder Gareth Barry depends on the outcome of checks on his injured ankle at 0900 BST.
Barry has missed both of the recent unconvincing warm-up victories over Mexico and Japan because of a ligament injury picked up playing for Manchester City against Tottenham in the Premier League on 5 May.
“I hope he will be fit. We’ll wait for the doctors and after that we’ll decide,” said Capello, who will discuss the results of the checks on Barry with team physio Gary Lewin.
Steven Gerrard, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand suffered knocks in the 2-1 victory over Japan in Austria on Sunday but Capello insisted Terry and Ferdinand “are fine”, while Gerrard’s injury is “to the knee, but it is not a big problem”.
This leaves 29-year-old Barry as the only fitness doubt for the tournament, which begins on 11 June, with England’s first game coming a day later against the United States in Rustenburg.

I’ve had a good 10 days training and a good 45 minutes. I just want to help England win the World Cup

Should Barry not make it, Capello is likely to turn to one of the other three central midfielders in his provisional squad not already guaranteed a place – Manchester United’s Michael Carrick, Tottenham’s Tom Huddlestone and West Ham’s Scott Parker. (BBC Sport)
