Old Trafford boss rumoured to be interested in Lyon wide man.
Manchester United are rumoured to be interested in making a move for Brazilian international left winger Michel Bastos this summer. The Olympique Lyon star is apparently a player Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in as he looks to add more creativity to his midfield.
The 26 year old has had a marvelous debut season at the Stade Gerland after securing a move from Lille and his efforts in Ligue 1 earned him a run in Dunga’s international set-up and a place in the World Cup squad. He scored his first goal for his country yesterday, a 30 year cracker against Zimbabwe, and is a player Lyon manager Claude Puel is worried about losing.
After failing to be impressed with the efforts of Gabriel Obertan and having seen Nani arguably succeed more effectively on the right, Ferguson could well do with an effective player with natural width on the left and Bastos has been incredibly effective over the past two seasons scoring 31 goals and assisting plenty of others.
The £22m rated former Feyenoord youth player has had a journeyman career plying his trade in Holland, Brazil and then France before finally getting to his current top notch level. The intelligent, speedy flair player is an excellent set piece taker and would surely welcome a move to Old Trafford.
