Portugal winger Nani has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a shoulder injury.
“After tests we conclude he is unfit to participate in the World Cup,” said a team statement.
Manchester United’s Nani picked up the injury in training on Friday in Lisbon before flying to South Africa.
The 23-year-old, who scored three goals in 11 appearances during qualification, will be replaced in the squad by Benfica midfielder Ruben Amorim. (BBC Sport)

This is absurd. The amount of players pulling out of the World Cup is alarming. The amount of those players who are Premier League based even more so. One wonders if the altitude has anything to do with it, but that would make little or no sense.

The 23 year old winger will be gutted and will be a big loss to Carlos Queiroz who has seen the winger become of Portugal’s most consistent performers. They already have a tough group to contend with and not being able to call upon the talented, if at times frustrating, Old Trafford man.
