Old Trafford move mooted for Bernabeu striker.
Manchester United are rumoured to be interested in making a move for in form striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer. The Old Trafford outfit are keen to add new attacking options to help relieve the pressure on England international Wayne Rooney and have earmarked the Real Madrid as a potential target believing that Jose Mourinho’s arrival at the Bernabeu may leave the 22 year old open for an approach from the Premier League side.
The former River Plate striker had a tremendous season at the Bernabeu last term scoring 29 games in all competitions but he was also said to be in the middle of a something of a power struggle at the club after he and Cristiano Ronaldo had a reported bust up. With the arrival of Jose Mourinho leading to speculation that the former Inter Milan boss is looking to bring in new signings, including the likes of Inter Milan forward Diego Milito, some reports have suggested that Higuain could be considering his options. Whilst the French born forward has recently extended his contract at the La Liga giants there is still talk that Mourinho may consider offers after being linked with a myriad of new Galatico additions.

Clearly a major obstacle to such a deal would be the likelihood of whether Sir Alex Ferguson would be given sufficient funds to make a move for the £22m rated Argentine international. It seems likely that Man United may well look to cash in on the likes of Dimitar Berbatov in order to garner requisite funds to bring in new additions and a number of clubs have been linked with the Bulgarian international and such a sale could help make space in Ferguson’s squad for such an acquisition.
Man United have also been linked with a move to Bernabeu youngster Karim Benzema but it appears that Mourinho is a big admirer of the former Lyon man and may be more open to accepting offers for Higuain instead.
