Jun. 04, 2010 - Oeiras, Portugal - epa02186929 Portugal's national soccer team player, Miguel Veloso, during the press conference after today's training session, in Oeiras, Portugal, 4 June 2010, in view of the upcoming FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Manchester United could be willing to offload misfiring midfielder Anderson in a swap bid attempt to bring Sporting Lisbon star Miguel Veloso to Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson may well have run out of patience with the young midfielder after two fairly average seasons and relations between manager and player have been further damaged by recent reports of a bust up between the two following Anderson’s unauthorised trip back to Brazil last season.

Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be an admirer of Portuguese international Miguel Veloso who has grown increasingly desperate to secure a move away from his homeland and has been continually linked with a move to the Premier League with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton previously been reported as interested in the 24 year old batter.

Man United could arguably do with an out and out defence minded midfielder having seen Owen Hargreaves spend the best part of two years out with injury. Marseille have also been linked with a move for Anderson but he may well be interested in a move back to the country where he first made a name for himself when he was coming through the ranks at Porto before his move to Old Trafford three years ago.

It could be that any potential deal would be a straight swap as what Anderson offers in youth Veloso offers in experience.

Previous interest shown in VelosoManchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan has reportedly dropped a hint that the Old Trafford giants are closely following the progress of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso. (
