Upton Park boss makes plans to improve his Hammers squad.
West Ham boss Avram Grant is planning a trio of ambitious Premier League moves to help improve his Upton Park squad ahead of the new season. The newly installed Hammers boss is looking to capture Portsmouth attack minded wing back Nadir Belhadj, Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun and Bolton centre back Gary Cahill.
The outlay for this trio would probably set the east London club back around £22m but the Israeli boss has been promised significant funds by co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold as they look to greatly improve on last terms relegation struggle.
Nadir Belhadj seems certain to leave Fratton Park and has been linked with a move to Qatar where he can of course command a large pay cheque but the Algerian may well feel that a move back into the Premier League would better serve his career progression.
Yossi Benayoun was said to be close to completing a move to Chelsea but that deal is still yet to be sealed leaving the door slightly ajar for an Upton Park return for the former Hammers cult hero. Gary Cahill could be priciest of the trio as the England international hopeful is valued at a rather inflated £16m by his Bolton employers.
