June 20, 2010 - Johannesburg, Guateng, South Africa - 20 JUN 2010: Yaya Toure (CIV). The Brazil National Team defeated the C'ote d'Ivoire National Team 3-1 at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa in a 2010 FIFA World Cup Group G match.

Arsenal are rumoured to be considering an attempt to nab Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure from under Man City’s noses. Arsene Wenger is looking to capture the long term Gunners target before he agrees a deal to join his older brother Kolo at Eastlands.

The 27 year old defensive midfielder has continually been linked with a move to the Emirates during his three year spell at the Nou Camp and now it appears certain the former Olympiakos and Monaco man is about to leave the Catalan club after giving up on trying to secure a regular starting spot, having seen his place handed to Spanish youngster Sergio Busquets.

There is no doubt that a player such as Yaya would suit the north London club down to the ground. For some time now Wenger has been looking for protection for Cesc Fabregas and a player who can ably break down opposition attacks and even though Alex Song has improved greatly in the past 18 months the Barcelona man has vast experience on his side and he can also play very well in the centre of defence, another problem area for the Gunners.

Manchester City are said to be close to sealing a £27m move for the towering midfielder but perhaps if an offer came from Arsenal he may well re-consider as such a move would at least guarantee Champions League football.
