Manchester United look set to lure Panathinaikos starlet Sotiris Ninis to Old Trafford in a deal believed to be worth £9.6m.

Ninis, 20, is one of the most sought-after prospects in Europe and impressed in Greece’s poor World Cup.

United expect to beat off competition from Italian giants Roma, Inter and AC Milan to bring the versatile midfielder to Old Trafford.

With Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs in the twilight of their careers, the highly-rated youngster is seen as an ideal replacement for the legendary duo. (Daily Mirror)

For those who are not all that aware of Sotiris Ninis its worth noting that the talented Albanian born adaptable midfielder is considered the hottest prospect in Greece right now, which admittedly isn’t saying a great deal but I would imagine Sir Alex Ferguson will have done his homework on the Panathinaikos star who’s performances helped the Athens club secure the double last term.

The impish slightly built youngster had the briefest of World Cup’s coming on twice as sub during the unsuccessful group stage but the talk is of his growing potential and given the size of club’s circling Ninis it appears that he has a bright future and perhaps that future could be at Old Trafford?
