Emirates boss lines up move for Bundesliga starlet.
ARSENAL are ready to pay £20m for German playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The Gunners have been trailing the 21-year-old sensation for months.
But now, with Cesc Fabregas still a major target for Barcelona, Arsene Wenger is ready to up his offer for the midfielder.
Ozil (left) only has one year left on his contract at German side Werder Bremen.
And, ahead of his country’s World Cup semi-final against Spain, he has expressed a desire to play in the Premier League.
Bremen qualified for the Champions League in third place at the end of the Bundesliga season, but Ozil knows he can double or even treble his £20,000-a-week deal by a move to England. (Daily Star)
Arsene Wenger would do well to snap up the impressive German playmaker but one wonders how such an addition would work in terms of the Emirates starting eleven. The Gunners have many top notch attacking midfielders including the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Andrei Arshavin and Tomas Rosicky so where then would the Werder Bremen man fit in?
There has been talk of Rosicky leaving but it seems that whilst Mesut Ozil is undoubtedly talented the north London club would be well advised to sort out the problem areas of defence and goalkeeper before signing another flair player.
However it would be hard to resist making a move for the 21 year old who has been top notch in Germany’s World Cup campaign and offers so much to any potential suitor. Expect Man United and Chelsea to also push for the youngster’s signature.
