Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is hoping to secure Manchester City forward Roque Santa Cruz in a cut price deal as he looks to bring in additional attacking options ahead of the new season.

The White Hart Lane boss is looking to bring in more strength in depth and hopes to land the Paraguayan international as Roberto Mancini looks to trim his ever expanding squad. The new Premier League regulations stipulating a 25 man squad could well lead to the former Blackburn Rovers man being sold.

Redknapp is thought to have given up in his pursuit of Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards but still harbours hope of signing the 28 year old who could be available for as little as £8m as the Eastlands side look for a quick sale.

The future of Spurs front men Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko are still unclear and with this in mind and with a Champions League campaign to plan for, a move for the powerful forward may be a wise one.
