It almost sounds like a broken record to say before a local derby match is that “form goes out the window for these types of games,” but these sayings become clichés for a reason. In the last few years both Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur have improved tremendously, but in a game between the two neither could be considered favourite.

In the 2008-2009 season Fulham took four points from their games against Tottenham. In 2009-2010 Spurs took four from Fulham.

Although Tottenham are now a UEFA Champions League side, it was Fulham who came closest to lifting a European trophy last year. Under Roy Hodgson – who has now taken the reigns at Liverpool – the West London side reached the UEFA Europa League final, losing to a Diego Forlan inspired Atlético Madrid in extra time.

Although the new season is still almost two weeks away, Fulham tickets for their match against Tottenham Hotspur on October 16th 2010 are already available – with seats in the neutral Putney Stand on sale for £49.

New Fulham manager Mark Hughes will look to build on Hodgson’s work at the helm, and could write himself into the club’s folklore with a victory over London rivals Spurs.
