The Nou Camp outfit simply will not give up in pursuit for Emirates captain.
Barcelona are refusing to give up on Cesc Fabregas – despite Arsene Wenger telling his captain that there was no chance of Arsenal sanctioning a sale this summer.
Wenger had talks with the 23-year-old on Thursday and made it clear that the transfer saga must be put aside for at least another year.
The Gunners have been steadfast in their resistance to a deal since rejecting a £29million bid from Barca at the start of June.
However, reports in Catalonia insist that the champions of Spain are not prepared to walk away from a pursuit that has obsessed them all summer.
They are prepared to stretch their summer budget by sanctioning a £42m bid – but financial limitations mean it must be structured over several installments and with at least £4m being linked to successes on the pitch.
Despite this representing an £8m improvement on the figure they had previously mulled as a ‘final offer’, it will still not be enough to change Wenger’s mind. (Daily Mail)
Even though it seems that the Arsenal captain has committed his future to the north London club this seemingly will not mean a thing to Barcelona who continue to pursue the Spanish midfielder. An increased bid will surely fall on deaf ears as the Gunners clearly have no intention of selling.
Cesc Fabregas appeared to be good spirits when presented to supporters at the club’s open day and it seems that the 23 year old plans on staying at the club for the immediate future. The Catalan club’s president had assured the Barca fans that he would bring the former youth player back to the Nou Camp and has no choice other than to continue to chase him even though it seems a doomed task.
