Highly rated defender desperately wants Emirates move.
Sport.co.uk understands that Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci would quit the Bundesliga club if Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger made an offer revealing that the Gunners are the only side he would consider leaving the German giants for this summer.
Tasci has been linked with a move to Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur however a source close to the player revealed to Sport.co.uk that Tasci would consider a move to the Premier League if the Gunner’s were interested in signing him.
A source close to the player said: “He has a long term contract but if Arsenal made an offer he would consider it. They are a great club wtih a great manager, but there is no contact at the moment. Tottenham have shown interest, but not Arsenal.”
Despite the defender issuing an Arsenal come and get me plea the player’s agent revealed to Sport.co.uk that only Harry Redknapp’s Spurs were formally tracking the player, with Wenger having not registered his interest in signing the versatile defender. The Frenchman is eager to sign a centre-back being linked with Everton’s Phil Jagielka, Werder Bremen’s Per Mertesacker, and Bosnian international Emir Spahic. (Sport.co.uk)
As Arsene Wenger frantically searches for defensive reinforcements the timing of this ‘come and get me’ plea couldn’t be more perfect. Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for the highly rated German international and surely if he wanted to make a move for the Stuttgart man then now would be the time to do so.
The Arsenal boss has lost three hugely experienced defenders this summer with William Gallas, Sol Campbell and to a much lesser extent Mikel Silvestre being players the Emirates manager could have done with keeping. His insistence on only offering one year deals to players over 30 have left the north London club with a lack of centre backs and the addition of Laurent Koscielny doesn’t appear to have appeased the supporters who were hoping the club would dig deep to bring in established names this summer.
Tasci was on the fringes of Joachim Low’s World Cup starting eleven and the 23 year old has had three good seasons in the Bundesliga and is very much one for the future and a player who is a target of many of Europe’s elite.
