German World Cup star Mesut Ozil is just hours away from becoming a Barcelona player, according to a Spanish paper.

Catalan newspaper, El Mundo Deportivo is reporting a fee of around £10-12 million has been agreed between Barca and Werder Bremen for the 21-year-old who only has one year left on his contract at the German side.

We told you yesterday that Barca were in for the youngster, but since then things have moved forward rapidly.

The deal is set to be completed soon (pending Pep Guardiola’s blessing), and Ozil will not be included in Werder Bremen’s squad for their Champions League qualifier against Sampdoria, paving the way for him to be able to play in Europe for Barca. (Betfair Football)

This is news that will disappoint Manchester United fans but may make Arsenal fans breath a little easier. This could well spell the end, for this summer at least, of any rather unsubtle approaches for the Emirates skipper. The German international is very much the in thing right now and there is no doubting his potential and to snap up the Werder Bremen man for such a low fee is an added bonus to the Catalan club who will now boast surely the most talented midfield in Europe, if they didn’t already hold this title.

By all accounts this deal is all but sealed and the attacking midfielder will be paraded at the Nou Camp either later this week or early next.
