Is David Moyes set for a Goodison Park striker switch?
Sky Sports News are reporting that West Ham have tabled a new bid for Yakubu in a deal that could end up funding an Everton move for Peter Crouch.
The news channel says that West Ham have made a new bid after already having a bid for £7m rejected by the Blues last month.
And sources close to Everton and Spurs have revealed to NSNO that Everton made a formal bid for Peter Crouch yesterday, which they claim is based on the sale of Yakubu to West Ham.
Spurs are believed to want somewhere in the region of £7m for Crouch, which, if West Ham’s new bid is improved, could even see Everton make a profit on any deals with the two London clubs. Plus, dealing with Spurs whilst Bill is already out and about dealing with West Ham will save him money on his Oyster card. (NSNO)
This could well be a sequence of events that greatly benefits David Moyes. Yakubu hasn’t been doing it at Goodison Park for it some time and continues to patrol the pitch in a lethargic and lazy manner. The arrival of Jermaine Beckford could well be a big success but if Everton can get hold of Peter Crouch then he would in theory have a great first choice partnership of Crouch and Louis Saha, which could well be a good pairing.
Avram Grant obviously knows Yakubu from his days as his boss at Maccabi Haifa and perhaps he feels he can get the former Boro man back to his best and may well be looking for potential alternatives for the potentially exit bound Carlton Cole.
