Emirates boss considers bid for Ewood Park centre back.
Arsenal are weighing up a move for Blackburn Rovers teenage centre back Phil Jones as they look to beef up their defensive options. Even though the youngster only signed a five year Ewood Park contract in May Arsene Wenger is still very much monitoring the progress the Preson born defender and could be ready to attempt a move.
The 18 year old has shown maturity beyond his years when he has been selected by Sam Allardyce and has been targeted by some of the cream of the Premier League as a potential future purchase with the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham having been linked with the solid performer.
The Lancashire side will fight off interest in the youngster but if Wenger makes an offer and his interest is registered then Jones may find such a move tempting and then Allardyce will have a tough task from preventing the youngster from having his head turned.
The fact that the Gunners boss is more than willing to give young players extended runs in his sides will only act as even more encouragement if a decent offer is made. Valued at around £9m, Jones won his first England Under 21 cap last week and has a great future ahead of him, wherever he plies his trade.
Jones was selected in the opening fixture of the season and he put in a solid display as Rovers beat Everton 1-0.
